"The jeers and laughter followed me like a shadow, but I kept my head down, pretending not to hear. 'Nopow,' they called me. Short for no power. As if I needed a reminder.

But today wasn’t about them. Today was about me. About proving, even to myself, that I could rise above the whispers and the snickers.

I gripped the hilt of the practice staff tighter as the signal blared. My opponent charged, his smirk mocking. I let him believe he had the upper hand. That was his first mistake.

In seconds, the staff clashed, the sound reverberating through the gym. He was bigger, stronger. But I was faster. Smarter. As his next swing came crashing toward me, I ducked low, using his momentum against him, sweeping his legs out from under him.

The crowd gasped. For once, not in laughter but in awe.

I planted the staff into the mat beside him, leaning over just enough to meet his startled gaze. 'Next time,' I said, 'remember: even a nopow can knock you down.' I didn’t stay for the applause. I had nothing to prove to anyone but myself."
