Disguised Perception: Hidden Behind the Veil

Book Description

I live what seems like an ordinary life, trying to live up to my mother’s expectations. Until one day, I develop a mysterious illness. One that defies all medical explanation. This strange condition grants me visions, glimpses of a world I don't recognize as my own. A world that may hold the answers to who I truly am. I keep these visions locked away, a secret shared with my only friend, Evelyn.

It's a curse, really, and a gift. One fateful day, I get a vision so powerful it shatters my reality. In an instant, I'm trapped in a world of magic. One with secret societies, crazy women, and an evil I never knew existed. My life spirals into chaos, magic, and threats from sinister forces that want to use me for their evil intentions.

In this strange new world, I find unlikely allies, and together, we engage in a battle that tests the very core of our existence. But as we unearth the truth behind the secret society's motives, we're confronted with a chilling reality. Their intentions are far more malevolent than we ever imagined, and the evil we face possesses more power than we ever dared to dream.

Teaser Exerpt

"You don’t understand," I say, my voice trembling. "I see things. Things I can’t explain—things that aren’t happening here."

Steele’s eyes narrow as he steps closer. “You’re lying,” he says flatly. “Whatever is going on with you, it’s not just seizures. I can see it in your eyes—you’re hiding something, Olivia.”

I flinch, his words hitting a nerve I didn’t even know I had. “You don’t know anything about me,” I snap. “And I don’t owe you an explanation.”

“Maybe not,” he replies, his voice low and dangerous. “But I’m going to find out, with or without your help.”

I don’t wait for him to say more. I turn on my heel and leave, my heart pounding in my chest. As I walk away, the world blurs around me, and I feel the familiar pull of another vision. This time, I’m prepared—or at least I think I am.

A dark alley flashes into view, a woman running for her life. The shadowy figures chasing her close in, their voices cruel and mocking. She turns to face them, her back against a dead-end wall, and draws a knife. The scene plays out in vivid detail, so real I can almost feel the chill of the air and hear the pounding of her heart.

I gasp, snapping back to reality. Steele’s voice echoes behind me, sharp and unrelenting. “You can’t run forever, Olivia.”

He’s wrong. I’ve been running my whole life."
